CHILD TRAFFICKING IN INDIA

Abstract:

Child trafficking is based upon the perspective of a human life and the considerationof life being like a commodity that is to be traded in the market. In general terms, trafficking refers to an illegal tradingof products. Human trafficking is the illegal sale and purchase of human beings, who are often used for the purpose of sexual exploitation, labour exploitation, organ trading, begging and forced marriages. Poverty, backwardness, unawareness and illiteracy are the major factors that promote trafficking of children. It is referred to as a contemporary form of slave trade, and like slave trade, child trafficking is marked and defined by dishonesty, intimidation, and mistreatment of children. The main areas that have been taken into account in this research paper are, magnitude of the problem, victims of trafficking, elements of child trafficking, causes of child trafficking, legal framework, migration and trafficking, and measures to combat child trafficking.
