Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in higher education, reshaping not only the delivery of knowledge but also the broader ecosystem of teaching, learning, and assessment. Far beyond its technical capacities, AI is altering pedagogy, student engagement, and the professional identity of teachers. This paper critically examines these changes, moving beyond the binary framing of AI as either a threat or a solution, and instead positions it as a catalyst for rethinking the purpose and practice of higher education.
